Salvation Army VS Goodwill

I gather clothes and household items 2-3 times a year to donate, and especially around the holidays to give to those less fortunate.  I've always gone to Goodwill because they have so many convenient locations.  This time I decided to do some research to see the differences between going to Goodwill or The Salvation Army.  Here's what I found. . .

Goodwill's nonprofit cause gives people job training programs, employment placement services, and other community-based programs.  The clothing/donations that can't be sold are either donated to third world countries or sold to make textile carpets.

The Salvation Army's nonprofit organization offer help with homeless, shelter, casework services, arts and music programs, worship, shelter, disaster relief, family counseling, and drug/alcohol rehabilitation.  They give vouchers for food, assistance for abuse victims, no/low income persons, and offer many locations where you can get all of the listed above support.

It's truly great whichever organization you donate to.  I, myself was just curious as to what the differences were.  When donating anything, it's important to research so you're aware of who and where your wonderful things will go to.
